Committee of the Whole
 
The Committee of the Whole is a Committee of Council that reviews issues and makes recommendations to Council. It is comprised of all seven members of Council and is Council's only standing Committee. Several years ago, Council abolished the standing Committee System and moved to the Committee of the Whole System, which is employed by many Ontario municipalities.

Recommendations made by the Committee of the Whole are generally not brought before Council at the Council meeting held the same evening but rather at the next Council meeting, usually held two weeks later. This allows additional time for public input and reflection before decisions are made.
