Environmental Advisory Committee

The Environmental Advisory Committee (EAC) was formed to help fully integrate protection and enhancement of the natural environment of Lanark Highlands with the social, cultural and economic interests of the community. This incorporates sound environmental stewardship, leadership and planning into municipal decisions.

The Lanark Highlands EAC is networked with other similar organization locally and globally. Presently your EAC is a committee of one representative of council, five non-elected members of the community and one staff member. The council representative for the EAC is Councillor Bob Sutcliffe. The EAC meets once per month with occasional extra meetings to work on special topics. Visitors are welcome to attend our meetings.

To find out what will be discussed at the next EAC meeting or what has gone on in the past, please contact the EAC's staff representative, Janie Laidlaw at 259-2398 email her for meeting agenda and minutes at:

Many environmental issues are regulated at the provincial and federal level. Any local environmental concerns should be brought to your municipal council or the Lanark Highlands EAC.

The EAC's mandate is to provide environmental advice, recommendations and information to Council concerning environmental issues related to public policies, programs and projects that affect the municipality.

With outreach to support local projects and workshops, education and other local environmental initiatives, the EAC hopes to inspire, within the community, good stewardship of the natural environment.
