COMPREHENSIVE ZONING BYLAW
The Comprehensive Zoning By-law for the Township of Lanark Highlands was adopted by Council on the 18th of November 2003.
The Zoning By-law affects all lands within the Township of Lanark Highlands. Zoning regulates the use of land, buildings and structures, but does not regulate building materials or the manner of construction; these are covered by the Building Code. The By-law prohibits development on flood plains, steep slopes, marshy or unstable areas, rocky areas and hazardous areas. It may also prohibit development on contaminated lands, groundwater recharge areas and sensitive aquifers. Zoning also protects natural heritage features, e.g. wildlife habitat, wetlands, shorelines, woodlands, etc. and
archaeological sites.
Before you build be sure to check the zoning requirements of your property.
