ENVIRONMENTAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE

The Environmental Advisory Committee (EAC) was formed to help fully integrate protection and enhancement of the natural environment of Lanark Highlands with the social, cultural and economic interests of the community. This incorporates sound environmental stewardship, leadership and planning into municipal decisions.

The Lanark Highlands EAC is networked with other similiar organizations locally and globally. Presently your EAC is a Sub-Committee of Council with one representative of council, five Lay Members of the community and one Staff Member. The EAC meets on a bi-monthly basis with occasional extra meetings to work on special topics. All meetings are open to the public and visitors are welcome to attend our meetings.

Many environmental issues are regulated at the provincial and federal level. Any local environmental concerns should be brought to your Municipal Council or the Lanark Highlands EAC.

The EAC's mandate is to provide environmental advice, recommendations and information to Council concerning environmental issues related to public policies, programs and projects that affect the municipality.

With outreach to support local projects and workshops, education and other local environmental initiatives, the EAC hopes to inspire, within the community, good stewardship of the natural environment.
