LANARK HIGHLANDS TAX DUE DATE DEFERRAL

Tuesday, 24 March 2020

The Council of the Township of Lanark Highlands held a special council meeting last night in order to provide direction to staff on tax bill due dates.  The Township understands the hardships that these circumstances have imposed on our residents.  Council is committed to doing it’s part to relieve some of the stress in the short term.

Council unanimously voted to;

Upon the request of a taxpayer to defer their tax payment……

1)            Waive penalty and interest charges for April and May 2020.

2)            Defer the April 30th payment due date to June 30th 2020.

3)            Waive any administrative fees to an upset amount of $50 to cancel pre-authorized payments, cancel a post dated cheque or NSF fees at the discretion of the Treasurer.

For taxpayers who are currently on a pre-authorized payment plan, have submitted a post-dated cheque to the Township, or pay property taxes through a mortgage holder, no action is necessary for this payment to be processed.

Staff will be issuing details on how to defer your tax payments in the next day or two.  Unfortunately, any payments received and processed are not able to be refunded and we apologize for this inconvenience.

Council and staff wish everyone well and are here to serve you through this difficult time.
