LANARK COUNTY OPP DETACHMENT WEEKLY NEWS
January 20-27, 2020
(LANARK COUNTY, ON) – Between Monday, January 20 and Monday, January 27, 2020, officers from the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to 337 calls for service.
The calls included:
Motor Vehicle Collisions
Total: 37 Including:

Single Motor Vehicle off Road (“in ditch”): 9
Lanark County OPP received a call regarding a vehicle in the ditch on Highway 7 in Drummond-North Elmsley Township on January 21, 2020 just before 8:00 p.m. Police attended the location, spoke to the driver and conducted their investigation which resulted in the arrest and charged of Robert HAGERTY, age 28 of Central Frontenac Township, Ontario for Impaired Operation – alcohol and drugs, Impaired Operation – Over 80 and Carrying a Concealed Weapon. The accused was released from custody on an Appearance Notice for a scheduled court date of February 24, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth.
Impaired Drivers – 2
Officers from the Carleton Place OPP were called to a business on McNeely Avenue in Carleton Place just after 8:00 P.m. on January 21, 2020, regarding a possible impaired driver. Police attended and spoke with the driver who was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation – Alcohol and Impaired Operation – Over 80. Pamela WATSON, age 37 of Carleton Place, Ontario was released from custody on an Appearance Notice for a scheduled court date on February 24, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth.
On January 24, 2020, officers from the Carleton Place OPP were called to a business on Franktown Road regarding an impaired person in the store. Police attended, located the person and conducted their investigation which resulted in the arrest and charge of Evan GAMMON, age 23 of Beckwith Township, Ontario for Impaired Operation – Alcohol. The accused was released on an Undertaking for a scheduled court date of February 24, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth.
Domestic Incidents – 4
Officers from the Lanark County OPP received 9-1-1 hang-up call around 9:00 p.m. on January 21, 2020. After attending several residences, police located the caller just after 10:30 p.m. on the 4th Concession of Bathurst where they had been involved in a collision. The driver was issued a 3-day licence suspension for registering an “Alert” on the roadside screening device. Further investigation revealed a domestic incident had occurred earlier in the evening between the driver and their common-law spouse. The spouse was charged with domestic mischief on January 22, 2020 and released on an Undertaking to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on February 17, 2020.
A 54 year old resident of Carleton Place, Ontario has been charged by the Carleton Place OPP on January 21, 2020 regarding a domestic incident which took place at the home of the accused just after 11:00 p.m. on that date. The accused was charged with Forcible Confinement and Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm (spousal) and was held in custody pending a bail hearing the following day. The victim was not injured during the incident. On January 25, 2020, the accused was further charged with Failure to Comply for contacting the victim.
Lanark County OPP were contacted by a victim of domestic assault on January 25, 2020 around 6:00 p.m. The victim sustained minor facial injuries from the assault and the accused was charged with one count of spousal assault and released on an Appearance Notice for a scheduled court date of February24, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth. The incident took place at the residence of the 38 year old, accused in the Town of Perth, Ontario.
Break and Enters - 2
Carleton Place OPP were called to a residence in Mississippi Mills Township just before 5:00 a.m. on January 25, 2020 regarding a break and enter/mischief incident which had occurred overnight involving the resident’s former partner. Officers attended the address and conducted their investigation. The accused, a 39 year old resident of Almonte, Ontario was located driving just before 10:00 a.m, was arrested for numerous offences and held for a bail hearing:
- Two counts of Mischief Under $5,000
- Criminal Harassment – beset and watch person known to complainant
- Break and Enter (Dwelling house)
- Three counts of Fail to comply with Probation Order
- Three counts of Operation While Prohibited
Thefts – 5
Three of the five theft calls to Lanark County OPP between January 20-27, 2020, were “thefts” of gasoline.
