Music at MERA on November 15th
If you love Renaissance and Baroque music, or want to experience enchanting early music, come hear the trio of Francis Colpron, Marie-Laurence Primeau and Tristan Best, members of Les Boréades de Montréal. They will be presenting a concert of early music at the MERA Schoolhouse on Sunday, November 15th at 2:00 pm.
The trio will perform on period instruments including recorder, traverso flute and viola da gamba. The programme will include a selection of pieces composed between the 15th and 18th centuries, featuring such notable composers at King Henry VIII, Thomas Morley and William Bird. As well, there will be a set of traditional Irish and Acadian tunes.
Under Francis Colpron’s artistic direction, this baroque ensemble puts on a very successful annual concert series in Montreal, performs in North America and Europe, and records on the ATMA Classique label.
Francis Colpron, founder of Les Boréades, is an accomplished flutist with extensive international and Canadian performances.
Marie-Laurence Primeau is a versatile artist, equally at ease on recorder and viola da gamba, which has led her to work with several well-established ensembles.
Tristan Best’s musical career began with jazz guitar before moving to study viola da gamba at McGill University. Tristan now regularly performs across Canada with early music and contemporary groups on viola da gamba.
Tickets available at Ticketsplease.ca: Regular tickets are $35. People under 30 and their companion of any age, $15, thanks to funding support provided by the Ontario Arts Council and the Government of Ontario.
The MERA Schoolhouse is located at 974 Dalhousie Concession 9A, McDonald’s Corners. For more info, please visit our website www.meraschoolhouse.org.
