Date: Tuesday, September 15, 2026
Location: 75 George St, Lanark
Time: 2:00 - 4:00 p.m and 5:00 -7:00 p.m
Purpose: An informal open house where members of the public can learn about the Zoning By-law Review, speak with Township staff and the project team, and provide comments and feedback.
Date: Tuesday, September 22, 2026
Time: 6:00pm
Location: Council Chambers Municipal Office - 75 George Street, Lanark
Purpose: A statutory Public Meeting will be held pursuant to the Planning Act to provide the public with an opportunity to comment on the proposed Comprehensive Zoning By-law.
PURPOSE AND EFFECT:
The Township’s current Zoning By-law No. 2003-451 was originally approved by Council in November 2003. Since the original approval the Township’s Official Plan has been updated to be consistent with the Provincial Policy Statement, 2020 (PPS), and several changes to the Ontario Planning Act.
The Planning Act requires that a municipality review and update their Zoning Bylaw within three years of a new Official Plan or update to an existing Official Plan. It is recognized that the Township updated its Official Plan in 2024, and now is an appropriate time to consider a new Comprehensive Zoning By-law, replacing the current 23-year old Zoning By-law 2003-451.
The changes being considered by Council include:
PROPERTY DESCRIPTION:
The new Comprehensive Zoning By-law will affect all lands within the municipal boundary of the Corporation of the Township of Lanark Highlands.

If a specified person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to The Corporation of the Township of Lanark Highlands before the proposed new Comprehensive Zoning By-law is approved, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Ontario Land Tribunal unless, in the opinion of the Tribunal, there are reasonable grounds to do so.
