The Township approves its capital and operating budgets annually. The budget establishes the required tax rates as well as user fees and water and sewer rates to pay for municipal programs and services for the year. The budget process identifies annually capital projects to be completed, such as the maintenance and replacement of infrastructure.

Lanark Highlands property taxes consist of residential, commercial, industrial, and other tax classes, are the Municipality's main source of revenue, and allow us to continue to provide the important municipal programs and services you value and expect. The Municipal Asset Management Plan is a long term planning document that establishes when to maintain, rehabilitate and replace municipal assets.

Development Charges are intended to pay for increased capital costs required due to increased needs for services arising from development.

The Township of Lanark Highlands does not collect local development charges; however, the Township is responsible for collecting Development Charges on behalf of Lanark County.
