LANARK COUNTY OPP DETACHMENT WEEKLY NEWS

(LANARK COUNTY, ON) – Between Monday, April 26, 2021 and Monday, May 3, 2021 officers from the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to 292 calls for service. 

The calls included:

Motor Vehicle Collisions

Total:      15

Car / Deer: 3

Parking Lots: 5

Single Motor Vehicle off Road (“in ditch”): 4

Impaired Driving

On May 1, 2021 Corey BLAKELEY, age 33 of the Town of Smiths Falls, was charged with one count each of impaired operation – alcohol, impaired operation – blood alcohol concentration over 80 as the result of a traffic complaint on Highway 15 in Beckwith Township. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on June 28, 2021.

Domestic Incidents

On April 28, 2021 a 57 year old resident of the Beckwith Township was charged with two counts of spousal assault as the result of a domestic investigation. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on July 5, 2021.

On April 28, 2021 a 35 year old resident of Carleton Place was charged with three counts of spousal assault as the result of a domestic investigation. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on May 31, 2021.

On April 29, 2021 a 34 year old resident of the Municipality of Mississippi Mills was charged with one count of spousal assault as the result of a domestic investigation. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on May 31, 2021.

On April 30, 2021 a 32 year old resident of Lanark Highlands Township was charged with three counts each of spousal assault and mischief under $5000 and four counts of uttering threats to cause death/damage property. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on June 7, 2021

On May 1, 2021 a 29 year old resident of the Town of Carleton Place was charged with two counts of spousal assault as the result of a domestic investigation. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on June 21, 2021.

The Lanark County OPP investigated 9 non-criminal domestic disputes during this week.

Thefts

Between April 28 and May 2, 2021 the Lanark OPP received three reports of vehicle thefts from the Perth area and one from Carleton Place.  Ongoing investgation

Also a rash of thefts from unlocked vehicles in Drummond-North Elmsley. A reminder for everyone to lock their vehicles was sent out over OPP East Region Twitter.

Officers of the Lanark County OPP investigated 11 theft complaints during the past week.

Frauds

The Lanark County OPP received 3 reports of fraud this week.
