LANARK COUNTY OPP DETACHMENT WEEKLY NEWS

(LANARK COUNTY, ON) – Between Monday, February 15, 2021 and Monday, February 22, 2021 officers from the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to 255 calls for service. 

The calls included:

Motor Vehicle Collisions

Total: 23     

Car / Deer: 3

Parking Lots: 1

Single Motor Vehicle off Road (“in ditch”): 10

MSV(Snowmobile): 1

Domestic Incidents

On February 17, 2021 a 75yr old resident of Drummond-North Elmsley Township was charged with one count each of assault, mischief under $5000 and forcible confinement as the result of a domestic investigation. The accused was held for a show cause hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth.

On February 17, 2021 a 37yr old resident of Lanark Highlands Township was charged with one count of sexual assault, three counts of assault and one count of uttering threats as the result of a domestic investigation. The accused was held for a show cause hearing.

On February 20, 2021 a 62yr old resident of Beckwith Township was charged with one count each of assault, uttering threats and mischief under $5000 as the result of a domestic investigation. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on April 19, 2021.

The Lanark County OPP also investigated 5 non-criminal domestic disputes during this week.

Thefts

On February 20, 2021 Jeffrey HAMILTON, age 23 of Perth, was charged with one count each of theft under $5000, fail to comply with probation order and resisting a peace officer after a complaint of a suspicious person on Alan Avenue in the Town of Perth. The accused was held for a show cause hearing.

Officers of the Lanark County OPP investigated 7 theft complaint during the past week.

Frauds

The Lanark County OPP investigated 4 reports of fraud during the past week.
