LANARK COUNTY OPP DETACHMENT WEEKLY NEWS

(LANARK COUNTY, ON) – Between Monday, January 31, 2022 and Monday, February 7, 2022 officers from the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to 307 calls for service. 

The calls included:

Motor Vehicle Collisions

 

Total:  24  

Vs Deer: 2

Parking Lots: 3

Single Motor Vehicle off Road (“in ditch”): 9

Impaired Driving

On February 1, 2022 Suzanne METCALFE, age 47 of Kitley Township, was charged with one count each of operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80 and operation while impaired – alcohol or drugs as the result of a single vehicle collision on County Road 43 in Montague Township. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on March 7, 2022.

On February 4, 2022 William JONES, age 52 of the Town of Smiths Falls, was charged with one count each of operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80 and operation while impaired – alcohol or drugs as the result of a single vehicle collision on County Road 43 in Drummond-North Elmsley Township. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on March 14, 2022.

Domestic investigations

On February 5, 2022 a 33yr old resident of the Town of Perth was charged with two counts of spousal assault, and one count each of failing to comply with a probation order and taking a motor vehicle without consent as the result of a domestic investigation. The accused was held for a show cause hearing.

On February 6, 2022 a 29yr old resident of the Town of Carleton Place was charged with two counts of spousal assault, two counts of domestic mischief and one count of uttering threats as the result of a domestic investigation. The accused was held for a show cause hearing.

On February 6, 2022 a 22yr old resident of Carleton Place was charged with one count each of domestic assault and domestic mischief. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on March 21. 2022.

The Lanark County OPP also investigated 14 non-criminal domestic disputes during this week.

Thefts

Officers of the Lanark County OPP investigated 3 theft complaints during the past week.

Frauds

The Lanark County OPP received 9 reports of fraud this week.
