Road construction work is scheduled to begin on County Road 16 along the shoreline of Robertson Lake, west of the hamlet of Poland, on Monday, Oct. 17, with road closures beginning on Oct. 24 for approximately two weeks.
Lanark County Public Works advises that during this work intermittent road closures are needed due to the narrow roadway width.
“Each road closure will be limited to a maximum of 45 minutes per hour,” explained Sean Derouin, public works manager. “They will start at 7 a.m. on the day of the closure and conclude at 6 p.m. on the same day.”
For more information on the road closure times, please visit www.lanarkcounty.ca/roads
There is no practical detour available, therefore detour signing will not be in place.

The Township of Lanark Highlands is please to announce the launch of it’s new website.

“Council is committed to moving the municipality forward and looking for ways to improve service delivery to the residents of Lanark Highlands.  The new website is one of many initiatives the municipality is undertaking that will enhance customer service and communications to residents and visitors of the Township,” noted Reeve McLaren.

The new website will replace the previous version located at lanarkhighlands.ca.  The new site was developed with the ability to continuously update and improve the user experience.  With customer service in mind, the new website will enable residents to complete online purchases such as burn permits, dog tags and book facilities online using their credit card.  The Township selected Paypal to coordinate the transactions in a secure environment and there is no need to have a Paypal account to execute a purchase.  A community calendar is included in the site for organizations to submit their events and is intended to be a tool in promoting all of the great events that occur in the Township.

“This new website is clean and aesthetically pleasing which is complementary to the new municipal branding.  That said, with anything new, we look to our residents and users to provide feedback to the municipality.  While we strive everyday to provide the best possible product, we also want to hear suggestions and feedback from the public about their user experience,” noted Ryan Morton, CAO/Clerk.  “We look forward to assisting residents in using the new tools and navigating the new site to accomplish what they are wanting to do.”

In the near future, additional upgrades to the site will include a service request module and even more online form submissions.  The site meets provincial accessibility standards by incorporating methods to increase font size, change contrast and makes use of a screen reader.

The Township encourages everyone to visit the new site and let staff know about any issues encountered.  The Township is also thankful for the work of TD Graham and Associates in partnership with Probase Web for a job well done and their continued support of the site.  Council considers the website one of many initiatives to come and is reflective of their commitment to customer service.
