LANARK COUNTY OPP DETACHMENT WEEKLY NEWS

(LANARK COUNTY, ON) – Between Monday, August 9, 2021 and Monday, August 16, 2021 officers from the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to 391 calls for service. 

The calls included:

Motor Vehicle Collisions

Total:      16

Vs Deer: 4

Parking Lots: 1

Single Motor Vehicle off Road (“in ditch”): 5

Vs dog: 1

Impaired Driving

On August 9, 2021 Joshua BERGEVIN, age 20, of Clayton, was charged with one count of operation while impaired – BAC over 80 as the result of an investigation into a single vehicle collision on Wolf Grove Road. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on September 20, 2021.

On August 11, 2021 Peter PROTSCH, age 76, of the Municipality of Mississippi Mills, was charged with one count each of operation while impaired – alcohol or drugs and  operation while impaired – BAC over 80 as the result of an investigation into a single vehicle collision on Waba Road. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on October 4, 2021.

On August 11, 2021 Trent HARRIS, age 20, of the Town of Carleton Place, was charged with operation while impaired –alcohol or drugs, operation while impaired- BAC over 80 and Dangerous operation as the result of a single vehicle collision on Mississippi Road in the Town of Carleton Place. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on September 27, 2021.

On August 13, 2021 Braiden KING, age 20, of Beckwith Township was charged with one count each of  dangerous operation, operation while impaired –alcohol or drugs  and fail or refuse to comply with demand as the result of an investigation into a single vehicle collision on Richmond Road in Beckwith Township. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on October 4, 2021.

Domestic Incidents

On August 12, 2021 a 28yr old resident of Tay Valley Township was charged with two counts of spousal assault and one count each of mischief under $5000 and failing to comply with a probation order as the result of a domestic investigation. The accused was held for a show cause hearing.

On August 14, 2021 a 39yr old resident of the Municipality of Mississippi Mills was charged with five counts of spousal assault, two counts of mischief under $5000 and one count of forcible confinement as the result of a domestic investigation. The accused was held for a show cause hearing.

The Lanark County OPP investigated 13 non-criminal domestic dispute during this week.

Thefts

Officers of the Lanark County OPP investigated 17 theft complaints during the past week.

Frauds

The Lanark County OPP received 1 report of fraud this week.
