LANARK COUNTY OPP DETACHMENT WEEKLY NEWS

(LANARK COUNTY, ON) – Between Monday, March 29, 2021 and Monday, April 5, 2021 officers from the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to 260 calls for service. 

The calls included:

Motor Vehicle Collisions

Impaired Driving

On March 30, 2021 Michelle FEDORCHUCK, age 32 of the Municipality of Mississippi Mills, was charged with one count each of impaired operation –alcohol and impaired operation – blood alcohol concentration over 80mgs as the result of a motor vehicle collision investigation on Highway 7 in Beckwith Township. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on May 17, 2021.

Domestic Incidents

On March 31, 2021 a 41 year old male from the City of Ottawa was charged with one count of harassing communications as the result of a domestic investigation in the Town of Carleton Place. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on May 3, 2021.

On April 3, 2021 a 28 year old male from the City of Ottawa was charged with one count each of spousal assault, criminal harassment, uttering threats and unlawfully in a dwelling as the result of a domestic investigation in the Municipality of Mississippi Mills. The accused was held for a bail hearing.

On April 3, 2021 a 53 year old male from Carleton Place was charged with one count each of assault with a weapon, spousal assault, criminal harassment and domestic mischief and two counts of uttering threats. The accused was held for a bail hearing.

On April 4, 2021 a 55 year old male from Beckwith Township was charged with three counts of criminal harassment and one count of uttering threats as the result of a domestic investigation in the Municipality of Mississippi Mills. The accused was held for a bail hearing.

The Lanark County OPP investigated 7 non-criminal domestic disputes during this week.

Thefts

Officers of the Lanark County OPP investigated 11 theft complaints during the past week.

Frauds

The Lanark County OPP detachment was notified of a new phone scam by the LLG Health Unit relating to COVID vaccinations. Further information for the public to be released via social media.
